Shiloh Marie Rogers

We were finally able to welcome our new little girl on August 23rd, 2011 at 7:21am. She weighed 8 Ibs, 8 ozs. and was 21 1/2 in. She had her own plans for coming into this world! We were not expecting her to be breech! We had a home birth planned, but this little lady already had her own plans. She was already 10 days over due. On Monday night the 22nd I started having contractions, Jamie was at work. I talked to him on his break at 9pm and told him that the contractions were coming more regular, but didn't think he needed to come home yet. At 3am the contractions were a lot stronger so I txted Jamie twice then tried calling him. He answered the call and I told him I think he needed to come home. I was upstairs in bed so when Jamie got home we moved downstairs to the couch. Jamie started timing the contractions. I asked Jamie if he could start setting up the pool (for those who don't know, we were planning a water birth). Jamie said we could wait awhile to set up the pool till we called my mom over. So I told him to call her! Jamie called my mom and she came over. Jamie still would not set up my pool as he said we still had time and we should get some rest. I said I didn't think I could get any rest. I felt the need to go to the bathroom so my mom helped me. As soon as we got into the bathroom my water broke. Jamie had already called our midwife to let her know I was in labor and now he txted her to let her know my water had broke. When he had just finished txting our midwife my mom and I called him into the bathroom. I had sat down on the toilet after my water had broke and had a few contractions during this time. I don't want to get too detailed in explaining how then I felt something was not right down below and we called Jamie into the bathroom. We could not figure out at first what it was and Jamie called our Midwife. I had another strong contraction and we called out to Jamie that it was the baby's foot! We could now see the baby's whole foot! Our Midwife said she was not going to make it in time as it seemed the baby was coming fast and she said we needed someone with us to help. She told Jamie to have me get down in a knee to chest position to help slow contractions. Jamie then called 911. I kept down in that position till the paramedics arrived. It didn't take them long. I could still feel the baby moving so knew I the baby was still doing good. My mom stayed with Sawyer who was sleeping. She and my Dad followed as soon as my Dad brought my sister over to watch Sawyer. They asked A LOT of questions the whole way to the hospital. I was still having contractions, but only a few contractions felt strong where I felt like pushing and had to hold them back. When we finally got to the hospital and they took me right up to a room and we did not have to stay in the ER. Jamie was not able to come up with me right away as they wanted him to check in. The Dr. that took us came in and talked over our options with us. It was to have a C-section or try and deliver breech. She was not to nice with how she worded it. We had so many people praying for us! We felt the love from so many friends. It was the hardest thing we have ever had to do in making a decision like that! God was surely with us! We told the Dr. we wanted to go ahead and deliver breech. It went so fast after that! The Dr. told me to start pushing so I did. The first push and Shiloh's other foot came. What a blessing that was! They had thought the other foot would be stuck. The Dr. was surprised it happened so fast and called to the nurses to hurry as she said I was a better pusher then she had thought! Shiloh came with three more pushes. What an awesome blessing from God! Shiloh was perfectly healthy and we were both doing good. Even though things did not go as we had planned God had worked out all things for good and we give all the glory to Him! We thank him for the blessing of our little girl!
